Hi-Gear Quick steel putty adhesive 57g

Hi-Gear Quick steel is a steel-reinforced putty adhesive, also known as cold weld, for joining parts and stopping leaks. It bonds glass, metals including steel, cast iron and non-ferrous metals, plastic, plexiglass, ceramics, porcelain and wood, and it also works under water.

Use it to stop leaks in a petrol tank, a crankcase, water and heating pipes, plumbing and sewer lines. You can also mould a missing sleeve, washer, threaded bolt, nut or plug from it, or repair a bolt. Once cured, the putty can be worked and painted.

How to use

• Clean the surfaces to be joined, preferably with sandpaper.
• With wet hands, knead the amount you need until the putty is an even colour, sticky and warm.
• Join the surfaces with the putty and hold them under pressure for 5-10 minutes.
• While it sets, you can shape the putty with a wet, smooth object.
• Once it has cured for an hour, the hardened putty can be worked.
• On a wet or oily surface, smooth the putty over the leak until the leak stops, then hold it under pressure for 5-10 minutes.
• If the putty has stiffened in long storage, warm it to 65 °C, for example on a car engine, and it returns to its original state.
