Description
Technicqll Automotive Epoxy Putty is a two-component epoxy putty for repairing mechanical equipment and car parts without taking them apart. It contains reinforcing fibres, and it fills uneven spots, seals and bonds almost any material: metals (aluminium, steel, cast iron), plastics (PVC, acrylic glass), glass, ceramics, porcelain, concrete, stone, brick, cork, wood and wood-based materials. It is not for bonding polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE) or PTFE.
Use it to stop leaks in the radiator, oil pan, tank and rubber hoses, and to repair cracked pumps and leaking coolers and tanks. It also repairs electrical connections (fuses), wire bundles, housings and handles, fills in broken-off knobs and door handles, repairs and mounts headlamps, restores broken threaded joints, seals holes in the underbody, bonds cracked plastic bumpers, covers and dashboards, and repairs chassis parts. Once cured, the putty protects metal parts against corrosion and insulates electrically, and you can machine it: drill, tap, file and sand.
Directions
- Clean the surfaces to be joined, for example with sandpaper, and remove all oil and dirt.
- Use the putty at temperatures above +10 °C, and let components A and B warm to room temperature before mixing.
- Take equal amounts of resin (component A) and hardener (component B), a 1:1 ratio by volume, and knead them between your hands for about 5 minutes until the colour is even.
- Use the mix within 10 minutes, and mix only as much as you can use in that time.
- Apply the putty to the surfaces to be joined or repaired and leave them undisturbed for at least 45 minutes.
- After about 12 hours you can machine the joint or repair.
- You can shorten the repair time by warming the bonded spot with hot air.
- Coat hard-to-bond surfaces first with a thin layer of liquid epoxy adhesive (for example E-358) and let it dry.
