Description

Technicqll HT Silicate is a one-part fireproof paste based on a modified silicate cement, for materials that work at more than +1000 °C. It withstands temperatures from -40 °C to +1200 °C and contains no asbestos.

On vehicles and machines you use it to repair exhaust manifolds and silencers and to assemble exhaust system parts with gas-tight, heat-resistant joints. It also permanently repairs and seals joints, gaps, holes and cracks in stoves, fireplaces and chimney modules, fits and seals damaged chamotte, metal and ceramic flue pipes that carry exhaust gases and liquids, and glues in the fire-resistant sealing cord of a fireplace glass door.

The paste adheres to chamotte bricks, stone, metal, cast iron, concrete, brick, plaster, ceramics, wood and wood-based materials, and does not flow from vertical surfaces. Once fully cured it is resistant to exhaust gases, liquids, water, diluted acids, solvents, chemicals and sub-zero temperatures. Do not use it to bond PP, PE or PTFE. A reinforcing mesh is included.

Technical data

  • Base: modified silicate cement
  • Colour: grey
  • Temperature resistance: -40 °C to +1200 °C
  • Open time: 5 min
  • Final cure: 24 h
  • Application temperature: above +15 °C
  • Volume: 70 ml
  • Asbestos-free

How to use

  • Work at a temperature above 15 °C.
  • The surfaces must be clean and free of rust, dirt and grease. If possible, roughen them with medium sandpaper.
  • Wet the surfaces with water and apply the paste where it is needed.
  • Fix the joint within 5 minutes of applying the paste.
  • Wipe off excess paste with a damp cloth.
  • Let the paste dry for 24 hours, then fire the repaired part at more than 500 °C for about 2 hours.
  • On an exhaust system, run the engine at low speed until it warms up: the paste cures and forms a gas-tight seal.
  • On a stove, fireplace or chimney, raise the temperature gradually so that the paste cures and forms a gas-tight seal.
  • To repair a crack or a small hole, apply a layer of paste, lay the included heat-resistant mesh directly on it, let the paste dry slightly and apply a second layer. Then heat it as described above.
  • Wash tools, fresh stains and dried but unfired paste off with water. Remove fired paste mechanically.

Warning

  • Causes severe skin burns and eye damage.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Wear protective gloves, protective clothing, eye protection and face protection.
  • IF ON SKIN (or hair): take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Rinse skin with water or shower.
  • IF IN EYES: rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing.
  • Store locked up.
  • Dispose of contents and container in line with waste regulations.
