Description
Exide developed its AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) batteries in close cooperation with leading European car makers. In an AGM battery the electrolyte is absorbed in glass-fibre separators, so the battery handles fast and repeated start and charge cycles. That is a prerequisite for hybrid vehicles with Stop & Start and brake energy recovery.
Exide says the battery meets the quality and technology requirements of an original spare part and withstands three times as many start and charge cycles as a lead-acid battery. It is hermetically sealed and leak-proof: the gases it produces (hydrogen and oxygen) recombine into water inside the battery.
You can also use an AGM battery in other applications with a high energy demand, such as boats, caravans and emergency vehicles.
