Description
The Laser Tools Specialist Thin Wall Glow Plug Socket Set 1/4"D, 3/8"D 18pc is an 18-piece set of thin-wall glow plug sockets in 1/4" and 3/8" drive. It includes three split sockets for glow plugs whose wires should stay connected, as on some Alfa Romeo, Fiat and GM engines. The snap ring in the M10 deep socket holds the glow plug in the socket so it does not fall out.
The set also includes a special socket and anti-static protective caps for PSG (pressure sensor) glow plugs. PSG glow plugs are fitted to various VW and Audi vehicles and to Vauxhall models. They carry a combustion chamber pressure sensor whose signals are processed by built-in electronics and sent straight to the engine control unit. This lets the control unit keep adjusting fuel injection, the pressure in the engine's lines and the exhaust gas recirculation rate.
To avoid damaging a PSG glow plug, keep to the specified breakaway torque when you remove it and use the special socket. It surrounds the whole head of the glow plug and is shaped so that it does not damage the thin connector.
