Description
Exide developed its AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) batteries in close cooperation with European car makers. In an AGM battery the electrolyte is absorbed into glass-fibre separators, which allows fast, repeated start and charge cycles. Hybrid vehicles with Stop & Start and brake energy recovery cannot do without this.
The Exide AGM battery withstands three times as many start and charge cycles as a lead-acid battery. It is hermetically sealed and does not leak: the gases that form inside (hydrogen and oxygen) recombine into water within the battery.
An AGM battery also suits other uses with a high energy demand, such as boats, motorhomes and emergency vehicles.
